My tutoring sessions (one-on-one and pairs) have proven to be highly successful when the students study every day.  It takes commitment from the students, not only in the tutoring session, but more importantly, on a daily basis.  I am deeply invested in your (child's) success.

At the moment, all tutoring is done online using Skype.

       materials supplied by your teacher

What if my child does better with in-person learning?

 

• Online tutoring with a webcam is very much like in-person learning. 

• Try two or three sessions.

What if my child has a learning disability?

​

• Over the years, I have successfully helped children with autism and other learning disabilities.  Most of these sessions have been in-person (not on video call).

• Some students might feel more comfortable with a parent by their side to gently guide them.
• The free 20-minute session and one real tutoring session will give us a good idea of how your son or daughter will feel about tutoring online.  
• Perhaps shorter sessions a few times a week would be more beneficial.  We can adapt as necessary.  

 

How  do you tutor? - with a lot of patience and understanding, making sure the information is understood and can be used by the students

Before each tutoring session:

​

• student checks Google Classroom (or the teacher's site) for assignments

• student emails, texts, copies & pastes or uploads assignments to Skype 

• I put on Skype short, easy-to-follow notes

​

During the tutoring session:

​

• I call the student(s) on Skype.  (We don't have to use a camera.)

• We have a short conversation about the assignments and the main problems the students are having.

• I explain in clear and understandable words.

• I break down the information into easy-to-understand smaller parts.

• We go over the practice exercises together.

 

How long are the tutoring sessions?

​

• 30, 45 or 60 minutes

• once, twice or three times a week

• Two 30-minute sessions a week seem to work best.

How do I pay?

​

• I use VENMO or PayPal and I will send a payment request or invoice.

• Payment is due before each session.

• A receipt will be emailed to you.

 

What do you charge?

​

Individual students:  paid in advance

​

•  $24 for 30 minutes

•  $30 for 45 minutes

•  $35 for 60 minutes

• $150 for 5 hours paid in advance (15% discount)

​

Pairs:  paid in advance

​

•  $26 per student for 1 hour

• $110 per student for 5 hours paid in advance

​

*Both students must be in the same Spanish class (level) at the same school

How do we schedule pair sessions?

​

Students must agree upon a day / time for the sessions. 

​

If one student is absent, he / she will lose that session.  Missed sessions cannot be made up.  (Notes will be placed on Skype for the absent student.)

 

Cancellation of a session (by both students) must be made by at least 2 hours in advance by phone call, text message or email.  

​

*Both students must inform me of the cancellation.

How do I cancel a session?

​

For individual students:

Call, text or email me at least 2 hours before the tutoring session.  You can reschedule.

​

For pairs:

Both students must cancel at least 2 hours in advance.  Each student must contact me to cancel a session.   

Pair sessions can only be rescheduled if both students contact me at least 2 hours in advance. 

 

The pair session will continue as scheduled if at least one student is available to meet at the arranged time. 

​

What if my child is absent? (misses the scheduled session without contacting Christina within the time allowed)

You will lose that session; missed sessions cannot be made up (rescheduled).
